Your website and design have the power to stand for and speak for who you are and what you offer without needing to be everywhere all at once.
So how do you achieve a design that genuinely channels your message and purpose without getting a degree in web design, spending a fortune on a designer, or spending way too much time doing it all yourself? Elementor | Introduction to the Editor
00:01
So I bet you’re wondering what is Elementor? So Elementor is a plugin on your WordPress site. It is a visual. You can use a builder just to drag and drop design elements onto the page, so you don’t have to code or do any fancy pants stuff. You just have to create beautiful designs or edit designs you’ve already purchased, downloaded, or created yourself. So let’s walk through just a quick overview of Elementor system. So on your site, you might have this beautiful Elementor page, or you created it.
Lena 00:42
Or you bought it in some way. You downloaded a template, you had a template installed, or you had a custom website built. Well, now what? You’re like, what is elementor? I don’t understand, so let’s just go through what it is. So First things first are the visual builder. When you go to your WordPress site, you can tell it’s a WordPress site by this lovely bar up here, you’ll see whatever page shows up, and then you’ll see an edit with elementor at the top. So that’s how you access the visual builder. You can also do it from the back end, but the easiest way is to go to the page you want to edit and click edit with elementor at the top.
Lena 01:20
And as you see, there are many different sections, right? So these all move. You can do widgets you can either edit here, or you can go over here and edit. You can change the colors and the type and the text and anything you could ever want. They have tons of different things that you can add so you can add a portfolio. There are no images, so it will not show, but you can add any of these lovely elements. To create an even cooler page, you can add, say, a countdown timer.
Lena 01:58
Enter what you want it to look like and what color it should be. So let’s do that, so it shows up, and then you can put in the date like all these different features that elementor offers you. That takes kind of just the kind of OK, yeah, I’m going to do a Wix site, Woo, or any of those things and make them100 % better. Plus, it’s super easy.
Lena 02:20
Ok, so as you already know, it is like a drag and drop. You can even copy sections like you can copy and. Paste, and it just duplicates the section for you. It’s so much easier than any other builder on the market. So let’s look at the back and what that looks like on your site. We’re going to go to yours. WordPress site, this is my sandbox, and you’re going to jump into elementary over here. So in your plugins, you should see elementor listed.
Lena 02:52
So Elementor and Elementor pro. Elementor is the free version. Elementor Pro gives you most of the features and is a paid version. So if you had my site, if you had a site built with me, you get pro for a year for free. Or if you host with me, you get it forever and ever and ever. But let’s go into elementor. So when you hover over Elementor, you see many different things. So we have just settings on setting up Elementor itself. You can input your custom fonts and icons; you can add your Google Analytics codes, track your contact form submissions, and do all the tools and things you want to do right from here.
Lena 03:36
But what’s so amazing, besides the visual builder we all love, the visual builder is the templates. So the templates are fabulous first of all, pop-ups included. If you’ve ever tried to add a pop-up to a normal website, it’s not the easiest thing in the world, but it has a theme builder built in. So instead of getting stuck with whatever theme you choose and what their headers and footers look like, a header and a footer are.
04:04
This is your header with your menu and stuff and your footer at the bottom of the page. So in a standard like, hey, I’m going into the WordPress repository, I’m picking out a theme. You pick a piece, and those are set in stone. You don’t have a lot of leeways unless you custom code them to change them. So the beauty of this is that, like the other part, you edit with elementor, and then you can click the footer or header. You can edit it the same way you can edit the page, which is much easier than customizing another header or footer or adding something you want as a background image.
Lena 04:44
It’s so much easier when you use elementor. So that is your intro to elementor, what it is, and how it will make your site. 100 % better.
